Plastics that can be welded usually include materials such as PE, PP, nylon, and PET. At present, plastic welding methods use more ultrasonic welding, friction welding, vibration welding, laser welding, induction welding, high frequency welding, hot air welding and hot plate welding. There is no better, only suitable. The advantages and disadvantages of these welding methods are described below.
The characteristic of ultrasonic welding is that the heat is concentrated only on the welding part, and the weld is firm and beautiful. Regardless of the polarity of the plastic, almost all plastic films that are heated and melted can be welded by ultrasonic, which is especially suitable for welding rigid film materials.
The advantages of friction welding: high productivity, easy to achieve automation and mechanization; when welding with one material, the joint performance is good, the equipment is simple, and the operation is convenient. Friction welding technology has a wide range of applications, and can weld automotive half-shafts, valves, airbags, turbochargers, connecting gears, coupling gears, constant velocity universal joints, front suspensions, etc.
Vibration welding: use almost all thermoplastics. It is suitable for welding engineering thermoplastics that are injection-molded or press-formed, as well as fluoropolymers, polyester elastomers and other plastics that cannot be welded by ultrasonic waves.
The advantages of laser welding plastics: the welding seam is precise in size, firm, airtight and water-tight, and the surface of the parts can be tightly connected; during the welding process, there is less degradation of the resin and less debris; compared with other welding methods, it greatly reduces the cost of the product Vibration stress and thermal stress; able to weld a variety of different plastics; good at welding products with complex shapes; able to weld areas that are difficult to reach by other methods, easy to control, and good adaptability;
High-frequency plastic welding is used for heat-sealing welding of general plastic, leather, and cloth. It has accurate positioning, good and flexible performance, and is used for small product processing, with high production efficiency and easy operation and use.
Induction welding is a very fast and diversified welding method, which is effective for all thermoplastics, and the welding strength can meet the requirements of use in most cases. The disadvantages are: high equipment investment and welding strength is not as high as other welding methods. It should be carefully considered when choosing to use.
Hot plate welding is mainly suitable for welding similar thermoplastics. The melting temperature of the same plastic is easy to control, and it is easier to control the temperature of the heating plate uniformly, which simplifies the difficulty of manufacturing the heating plate; when welding different types of plastics, the temperature between the two plastics There are differences in the impact, which adds a certain degree of difficulty to the manufacture and processing of the heating plate, and the phenomenon of insufficient strength will also occur.
